Welcome to City of Southampton Swimming Club

Here at the City of Southampton Swimming club we provide excellent teaching and coaching where you can take your swimming to the next level. The key objective of the club is to provide a programme structure and environment that will enable each of its swimmers to attain his or her maximum swimming potential.

We have an excellent Learn to Swim Academy, catering for all levels of beginner working to the ASA’s new National Teaching Plan for Swimming STAGE 10.  On achieving STAGE 10 and graduating from the Learn to Swim Academy swimmers can make the transition into the clubs first training squad Piranhas.  The Learn to Swim Academy have sessions at Regents Park School, lessons are booked and paid for in advance in blocks of 12.weeks.

From Piranhas, which swim at ‘The Quays,’ (a modern 8 x 25m Lane pool) we will develop your skills, teaching in line with the ‘Long Term Athletic Development Plan’ FUNdamentals of the four recognised strokes used in competition,. We encourage our swimmers to realise their potential and coach them to progress through the Training Development squads. As a competitive swimming club we actively compete at gala’s ranging from ‘Fun & Novice Gala’s through to National Championship competitions.  To swim in Piranhas and the Training Development squads you must become a member of the club, which involves an annual membership fee and a monthly swimming fee. Monthly fees vary for different squads and are promulgated on the club notice board. We also have a very successful Masters training squad for the mature competitive swimmer, who compete on all levels.

We are affiliated to Hampshire County ASA which governs the competitive sport in the county and also organises the annual county championships. These championships are loosely known as “Counties”.

As the full-time Head Coach I am well supported with other teachers/coaches who operate on either a professional or a voluntary basis.  The affairs of the club are managed by an Executive Committee of volunteer elected officers.

At City of Southampton Swimming Club, whatever your needs, we have training to suit you. We can take you from your first strokes, to possibly a National Medal.

So why not come and join ……..and take your swimming to the next level.
