Health, Safety and WelfareThis is the Health, Safety and Welfare Section for City of Southampton Swimming Club. All the documents contained in this section correspond to ASA / Wavepower gudelines for swimming clubs and any further details / advice can be found on the ASA / British Swimming website. At the ASA Friends Judicial Training day in September 2012, we received a presentation by Barbara Barrett and Jenni Dearman (Safeguarding Team) with regard to parents and issues about how they treat their swimmers. As part of a presentation we were encouraged to look at the YouTube video, “The Magic Hockey Helmet”. This puts forward how a young athlete feels, albeit in this case Ice Hockey, when they are competing. It is an excellent tool to get over the feelings of young people when they are faced with hostility in sport and is appropriate for both swimmers and parents.
