Strong team performance secures Premier League position for 2010

Round 2 of the National Arena Swimming League again took place at Trinity School in Croydon, however this time the draw had been very tough, with Southampton facing the current top team in the south-east, Guildford City.

Another GREAT Team effort, well done to you ALL. This was the toughest 2nd Round of the Premier League, Guildford are the Team we all must aspire to chase – they are way ahead of the pack at the moment. Interestingly Richard Garside the Head Coach of Guildford has been at Guildford for 11 years and his quote to me at the end of the gala was ‘Dave you have a great little team, well done, there is NO WAY Guildford was as strong as you after my first 3 years!’. Take it from me this is high praise for US ALL at City of Southampton Swimming Club.

The results from Round 1 & Round 2 indicate that we will be in the middle Premier League Gala for Round 3, this in itself is a massive leap in progress that WE have taken in the past 3 years.

This is the first time in practically 2 decades that City of Southampton SC has survived one season in the Premier League!

The aim is to stay and compete in this league, with a Long Term Goal of making the Top Gala in Round 3 in the future. As Guildford have proved – IT CAN BE DONE! Although one step at a time…..we must strive to stay in this league next year.

Final results from the gala were:

 1st Guildford City 'A'
 215
 2nd Haslemere 150
 3rd Amersham 147
 4th City of Southampton
 140
 5th Croydon Amphibians
 97

The final round takes place on 12th December at 'Pavillions in the Park', Horsham against Amersham, City of Canterbury, Crawley, Portsmouth Northsea and Rushmoor Royals 'A'.
