Great progress at Rushmoor Royals Open MeetCity of Southampton swimmers travelled to Aldershot for the Rushmoor Royals long course open meet over 16-17th January, performing strongly across a number of events. The meet was one of a number of long course competitions that COSSC swimmers have entered in January, together with the Swansea and upcoming Portsmouth open meets.
Dave's Comment:
City of Southampton Swimming Club swimmers produced another fine display of swimming at the Rushmoor Royals Long Course Open Meet this weekend. The club amazed an amazing 8 Gold, 15 Silver & 8 Bronzed medals, with swimmers achieving 121 life time best competition swims and hundreds of top 8 rankings. It is particularly pleasing to see those swimmers that moved into the programme last summer not only adapt and apply themselves to the hard training but also produce huge life time best swims in what is a short space of time. To name just two: Bradley Isaacs (12yrs) knocked off an amazing 10 seconds from his 100m Freestyle Sprint time to take Gold and Danny Rumsey (14yrs) who again knocked off some 8 seconds from his 100m Freestyle Long Course times to win Gold. It is also really interesting to note the progress of our younger swimmers 9-10yrs, who are now being coached by City's new Assistant Head Coach Allan Whelan again especially in such as short period of time.
Full results from the meet are available to download.
City swimmers remain in heavy winter training and will train 6 mornings this week, however they will travel down the M27 to compete this weekend against Portsmouth and other local clubs, in what I know will be a hotly contested competition. Regards David Terry Head Coach
