Southampton round off excellent South-East Region Championships

Southampton swimmers travelled to Crawley for the second and final weekend of the 2010 South-East Region BAGCAT Championships, producing yet more personal bests and national qualifying times.

…..this for a Club of our size is a REMARKABLE feat, which provides further evidence that the Training Programme is working.

For those swimmers that have made the National Qualifying Cut the work to hone your skills and be at your very best in July/August really does start now. Yes, I am taking the training up another level……be warned!

We are NOT (repeat) NOT going for the T-Shirt!

With so many great swims it is becoming almost impossible to mention you all – you were all CSSC stars this weekend and the previous weekend at SER BAGCAT Championships, whether you had one race, many, or had the dedication to travel to compete in the relays, such as Lewis Foreman did on the last Sunday of the Championships.

I suppose if I have to mention anyone it has to be Harry Fryer. Mention well I could write a book on the ‘Life & Swimming Times of Harry Fryer’ (…I may yet Harry). I have been coaching Harry since he was 9 years old, back then I did not have a grey hair on my head! I have always known Harry has got what it takes, trying to tap into his talent-base has been, well, lets say trying!  However, this season Harry has started to move away from his ‘I can find any excuse to stand at the shallow end ways.’ Although if unnoticed he will still try! Harry has been more motivated and started to train, the results are that Harry now has 4 National Qualifying times and has the potential to do really well this summer.

Full results are available from the Swim South-East website.

Unfortunately we lacked presence at the SE Region BAGCAT Championships in the 10 & 11 year old groups (Jess Bishop & Lucas Hutchings were are only 11yrs) which is a shame as there are swimmers here at CSSC in this age group that I know could have made it.  However, to make SE Region level you really do need to train and get up to do several early mornings each and every training week.

So if you're 9yrs or 10yrs now and plan to make SE Regions 2011 your goal – you have about a year to TRAIN and make you goal a reality.
